I have tried over and over to get iREB to work with my 3g. I am running Windows 7 x86 (32-bit). I installed LibUSB and it appears to be functioning fine. I put the phone in DFU mode and itunes recognizes it (it is not in recovery mode, the screen is black). I close iTunes and I open iREB (Run as administrator) and press the 3g button. Then i see in the task bar it pop up a couple times saying this device could run faster on a USB 2.0 port, and it seems like it is doing something. And then nothing happens. No white screen or red screen or anything on the phone. I tried running iREB in compatibility mode for XP and also ran it normal in windows 7 and both have the same result. NOTHING. Does it matter what bootloader the phone has for iREB to be able to work? I have a iPhone 2g and iREB worked perfect the very first time on the 2g, but the 3g...no luck. Any thoughts? Also the 3g already has 3.1.3 installed and i am trying to restore with an ispw created by sn0wbreeze. Don't know if that matters either. If i try to restore with sn0wbreeze ipsw without iREB i get the usual errors and it will not restore. Thanks

I'm having simular problem. Tryed to downgrade to 3.1.2 with iREB but still getting the 1604 error. I tryed earlier to do the same with itunes and now i only have the emergency call and sim missing screen on the phone. its a 3g 16g.I did the dfu thing and got white screen but still nothing. It also says the capacity is n/a and that the software is n/a and just had a 1015 error too

i actually figured it out. And did work on a 3g with 3.1.3 installed. I did everything I stated earlier. And once I got to the point where it looked liked everything stopped working I did the following steps to get it working:
1. unplug phone from the computer (don't touch anything on the computer....nothing)
2. hold power and home buttons together until the phone boots up.
3. once the phone boots back up, connect it to the computer again (still don't touch the computer)
4. power the phone down and put back into DFU mode.
5. iREB will pick right back up where it left off and the screen will turn white
6. close iREB and restore to the firmware on your desktop that sn0wbreeze created
7. It should now run without errors

Hope this helps some other people because I was losing my mind until I accidentally left iREB running when I hooked the phone back up and all the sudden "WHITE SCREEN." I have repeated it multiple times and it works every single time. Good Luck to all.

this worked great! had same original results- running a 3g on 3.1.3 /5.12.01. and the final product lock screen just makes you know its well worth the hassle. there's no question if it worked. way to go ih8sn0w and thanks again splamte- sometimes the best help is by accident. no sheetrock to repair this weekend!!!

edit---update!!! this iphone was already activated on at&t. once i followed all the instructions on sn0wbreeze per all the youtube vids and tutorials using expert (although i'm a rookie ). used ireb for the white screen. shift /restore and it did work, but i found that sn0wbreeze was already on my app screen. i also noticed that i had no service. no recoginition of att, tmo. I noticed that during the expert mode at the "set memory" screen the program had already checked the "activate" and "add app" boxes and in the unlock screen it said "no supported for unlock".....
THIS IS WHAT I DID--- i went back and put the phone in dfu and shift restored to the same 3.1.3 i made the the sn0wbreeze ipsw with (NOT THE SN0WBREEZE 3G!!!) and the phone came back to the stage it was at before the jailbreak. then deleted the sn0wbreeze custom ipsw so not to get confused. re-cooked new expert ipsw but in memory I UNCHECKED the activate and install app. boxes, since my bootloader is 6.2 and i can't fuzzyband so for now i can't unlock anyway.
now follow original shift/restore to this NEW sn0wbreeze ipsw (see the possible confusion) and....smiles!!! jailbroken and showing full bars with at&t!!!
remember i'm just a rookie but this worked for me. hope it helps.

I've tried to get iREB to work my a friend's iPhone 3G @ 3.1.3 all night on Windows 7 x86 and Windows 7 x64 and have not been able to get the white screen. When I click on the 3G icon in iREB, absolutely nothing happens. I don't see the tasks on the taskbar as was mentionned here.

I did extract the EXE to a folder and try running 3grun.bat but it keeps saying "Failed to load iTunes Mobile Device driver".

When I launch iTunes 9.1, it sees the iPhone is in DFU mode with the black screen.

I've tried enabling compatibility mode (Windows Vista, XP SP1 & 3, etc.) and tried "Running as Administrator" although UAC is disabled.

Is anyone in the same boat as me? Has anyone been able to figure out how to get iREB working after first experiencing problems with it?

Appreciate any help on this...

Ok, so I tried this on my XP (32 bit) machine at work and ran into the same problem until I removed iTunes 9.1 and installed an older version (9.0.2.25 from http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/itunes/)

The phone is now jailbroken.

What are our other options, then? You make it sound like there's another way for us with the 3G 3.1.3.

Also, that unplugging and redoing trick didn't do anything for me.
